Hi, I am learning German in Zurich, Switzerland where basically people would prefer to speak either Swiss German or English with you, so practicing German can be hard. Also you ebcome complacent when everyone just speaks English, which is a very bad excuse. Any way like most, I have struggled with my German but this really helps. Keep up the gd work

    Well, first of all …
Well, first of all the german tenses are not that “stiff” in usage as in english.
“will be” you can use “werden + infinite verb” like in “Ich werde in 2 Stunden gehen”, BUT you can also you a present tense “Ich gehe in 2 Stunden”

    “schon” without the …
“schon” without the umlaut, so written with an “o” means already. “Ich bin schon fertig” I have already finished.

    Some other questions? :)

  • DeutschHappen says:

    thank you for this …
    thank you for this compliment.
btw, a new video has just been uploaded ;) .
ok, “schön” with the umlaut “ö” can mean several things. most of the time “schön” means nice, good looking, beautiful something in this sense like “she is beautiful – sie ist schön”. in colloquial german it is often used in the sense of “Ok” like “na schön”. then we have a use in “here you are” “bitte schön”.
now I have to start a second post ;)

use of the word “schön” – because I thought it meant “already”, but you all seem to use it in practically every sentence!!

Thanks again – I’m learning so much from your vidoes!!

so what is “will be” in German? I’ve been struggling with that one all morning!

  • rasondetr says:

    omg! that’s like …
omg! that’s like the futur proche in french, except like in german it’s not the closest future. Like “Ich verde arbeiten.” is I will work. But in French it’d be Je vais travailler. but that’s like i’m gonna work. not likt will work. =]
